The article is focused on experimental materials for the study and selection of varieties of the genus Corylus L. (President, Cherkesskiy-2, Futkurami) in the desert and set the specifics of their growth and development under extreme conditions. Based on the research the author identified ecological and biological characteristics of the plants and the ways of their adaptation to the limiting factors. The introduction of nut shrubs in protective forestation of degraded landscapes is viewed as reasonable by the author.
