More than half a century has passed since the introduction of the concept of phytogenic field by A.A. Uranov in 1965. Starting from 90-ies till the present time undeniable progress has been made in studying the phytogenic field of plants. Common to all species studied radial-belt structure of phytogenic field and a number of its basic factors: light, root competition, humidity, the nutritional value, the mode of microbiological and chemicalphysical indicators of soil, and allelopathy have been identified. Methods of studying the phytogenic field, including new theoretical approaches and experiments for the separation of individual factors and assessing their capacity also develop.
