The landscape park “Krylatskie Hills”, which is distinguished by a high landscape diversity due to natural reasons and a long history of economic development, is an important object of research from the point of view of the renewal and preservation of oak stands in Moscow, a city that has generally experienced a reduction in the area of oak groves in recent decades. The conducted studies of the pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.) regeneration included both terrestrial descriptions of forest areas with the participation of oak and the accounting of detached trees, as well as the analysis of space images of different times. To date, on the site of many previously low-value sections (scalped during planning works, roadside strips), communities with young oak trees have formed, which significantly increase their conservation value. However, oaks practically do not regenerate on artificial embankments from the soil dug out during the digging of deep pits, including during the construction of the subway, as well as in the former quarries for the extraction of sandstone. Fragments of oak groves on the slopes of the Kamennye Zarazy and Tatarovsky ravines experience serious stress due to increased recreational activity (soil overconsolidation).
